It probably got into my head the deepest of all of his films. Inland Empire is practically a horror film. These rank relatively low in enjoyability because they are work to watch, but I value them highly for how thought-provoking they are. Flawless.ģ) Tie between Inland Empire and Lost Highway. That audition scene with Betty, and the Llorando performance. Especially Justin Theroux.Ģ) Mulholland Dr.
Sorry, but Kyle McLachlan and Justin Theroux just aren't magical to me. I wish he had continued to work with them. I go back and forth every time I think about it. Can't decide between Dennis Hopper and Nic Cage, though. They are pretty dark films, but like, less dark (in tone, if not content) than Lost Highway or Inland Empire.
These both have a similar energy to me, and it's a little more.I'll say light-hearted? than the rest of his work. From most to least enjoyable, I would rank them:ġ) Tie between Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart. I'm going to word vomit my thoughts about all of them now, because my boyfriend very nicely sat through all of them with me, but he doesn't like them nearly as much. Still need to see The Straight Story and revisit The Elephant Man, then I'm pretty much caught up. First I watched Blue Velvet, then Eraserhead, then Lost Highway, then Mulholland Dr., then Wild at Heart, then Inland Empire. Oh wow, you're really digging into the old posts! I've seen all of those at this point, lol.
